Give YMCA your card information and expect to fight for your money back I have been trying to cancel my subscription since May 1st. First call: staff told me they cancelled it moving forward, I was charged again on June 1st anyway. I called back the next week, no one picked up, or they hung up immediately. I only got through by calling from my cousin’s phone number. I asked them to cancel again and requested an email confirmation. I was told they couldn't provide one. I was charged a third time in July. $136 x 3 months = $408 taken from my account after I had already asked, multiple times, to cancel. I had to contact my bank directly to place a stop-payment because YMCA would not stop charging me or issue a refund. This is a pattern: verbal cancellations that don't take effect, calls that go unanswered, and a flat refusal to provide any written confirmation a customer could point to later. You can chalk it up to incompetence, but if done thrice, that’s a business model. Cancel in writing if you can, keep every record of evidence, record phone calls, and expect to fight for your own money back. Enjoy my hard earned money. You can lick the bottom of my shoe.

Beautiful old building with craftsman details and great lap pool as well as sauna and hot tub. Also, surprisingly not busy on a workday afternoon.

Honestly not impressed. Staff is decent and the place is pretty basic. For a single person, the membership feels way too expensive for what you get (family pricing seems more reasonable, though). Biggest issue is the environment. The downtown location often feels unclean, and I’ve seen people basically using it like a living space — even drying clothes in the sauna. That’s just not acceptable. Overall, it works if you have no better option, but it definitely doesn’t feel worth the price and needs much better upkeep.

The YMCA Downtown Seattle is a very welcoming and well-rounded gym with excellent studio spaces for classes, a basketball gym, racquetball court, areas to stretch, free weights, cardio equipment, and a pool. The locker rooms have a sauna, steamroom, and whirlpool tub. They have a towl service for an extra monthly fee but they provide plastic clothing bags in the locker room for free. The building is history but has been renovated to keep much of its original charm. The facilities are clean and upkept nicely, they clean often. I try to go 4 to 5 times a week and it is less busy around noon, if you prefer less people.

The best YMCA I've ever been to. I have been a YMCA member since my baby was born over a decade ago. I've always enjoyed their group classes, my child tool his 1st swimming lessons there when he was a months old and was in the YMCA child care when he was 2! This facility is 7 whole floors in the heart of Seattle in a Historical Building almost as old as Seattle itself! Super clean and not very busy at all! Lots of equipment and a pool on its own floor. Everything looks almost new and the membership desk is super friendly. I LOVE THE YMCA!
